Rooted in Community. Built for Impact.
The African Diaspora Co-operative Credit Union Ltd was born from a powerful vision: unite the financial strength of Africans in the Diaspora and back home, and channel it toward sustainable growth.
Why ADCCUL Exists
For years, members of the African Diaspora have sent remittances home to support families, build homes, fund education and invest in local businesses. Yet much of this financial power was scattered, unorganized, and lacked the collective strength to create long-lasting economic impact. At the same time, back home, entrepreneurs, farmers and families kept facing obstacles to affordable financial services and capital.
Seeing this gap, a group of forward-thinking Cameroonian business professionals, at home and abroad, came together with a shared purpose: to build a financial institution of the people and for the people. A cooperative that connects the Diaspora's resources with local community needs, while promoting financial literacy, business growth and economic independence.
ADCCUL was born in August 2023 at a meeting held in Gilgal Tower during the first visit to Cameroon of Dr. Umar Johnson Ifatunde, a renowned US-based Pan-Africanist who called on African countries to build institutions that help their children in the Diaspora invest and return home. Led by pioneer President Eric Igwacho of the GILGAL Investment Group, the union was officially launched on 5 June 2025 at its head office in the UBA/EasyShop Building, Down Beach Limbe, in the presence of the Paramount Chiefs of Buea and Limbe and leaders of the Fako Chiefs Conference.
ADCCUL is affiliated with CamCCUL, the Cameroon Cooperative Credit Union League, whose groundbreaking encrypted digital banking software powers our online services. Today ADCCUL operates as a regulated Category 1 microfinance cooperative from Limbe, serving members across Cameroon and around the world.
